Speed density fundamentally changes the way your ECU measures air by applying the ideal gas law to your intake manifold’s environment via TMAP sensor readings.
This custom feature removes dependency on your MAF sensor and instead permits you to directly calibrate your airflow using the two Airflow - VE - Volumetric Efficiency tables. As such, tuning speed density is different than MAF.
Speed density tunes feel “smoother”, have more precisely dialed fuel trims, and can be more tolerant of modifications or leaks in the intake side of your engine (such as blowoff valves).
